    Sim Trinkets

    Little curiosities of The Sims.

    Desktop Programs

Over the course of the lifetime of the Sims' franchise, Maxis and EA have released dedicated standalone applications, such as the The Sims Creator for Sims 1 or Body Shop for The Sims 2. Meanwhile, other programs exist solely out of novelty, as toys and/or to promote the newest expansion pack at the time. From a Sim baby 'virtual pet' to a Windows Media Player-enabled Jukebox gadget, here are some very interesting Desktop curiosities.

    Mini Aquarium

One of the earlier programs introduced during The Sim's 1 lifespan. Mini Aquarium is effectively a Windows 'gadget' that allows you to play with the Poseidon's Adventure Aquarium. The program has three controls "Clean", "Feed" and "Watch" with a happiness meter to the side. If the meter gets too high or too low, the fish will die.

    The Sims Jukebox

A music player widget powered by Windows Media Player. The user can add songs to the playlist in the options screen and play the listed tracks back to back while a Sim is seen dancing to the jukebox.

    The Sims Cry Baby

Probably one of the more annoying of these desktop toys. Sims Baby simulates how the baby works in the first game. The baby cries and you have three ways to interact with it, "Play", "Feed" and "Sing". Although you can quiet down the baby for a few minutes after feeding or playing with them, the little things just doesn't... SHUT UP!!

    The Sims Chatterbox

Chatterbox is a more simple one. There are four Sims displayed, often through RNG, and each Sim has a "Talk" button. When you press a button, that corresponding Sim will say something in Simlish, and one of the other three Sims will, at random, respond back to them. The Sims are mainly NPC Sims from the 'House Party' pack.
